Pomegranate Lime & Lemon

Okushal is more than palate-friendly and easy-going. Made to mix well with almost anything and anyone.
It absolutely sparkles with water, soda or tonic water. It positively shines with fruit, herbs and spice. And it most certainly won’t shirk a date with your favourite meal or dessert. In fact, it’s happiest in the company of significantly unexpected others, so we encourage you to try something new with it.

RECIPES

Arts & Anarchy

  • 3 Granny Smith apples, washed and sliced into chunks, core removed
  • 1 orange, washed well and sliced into chunks
  • 1 black or rooibos chai tea bags
  • 2 Tbsp (30ml) Apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) OKUSHAL POMEGRANATE LIME & LEMON
  • Sparkling red grape juice
  • 2 lemons, thinly sliced
  • 2 limes, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup pomegranate arils
  • 6-8 seasonal berries, halved
  • 1/3 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Lots of ice
  1. Place apple and orange chunks in a medium sized pot. Cover with water (about 750ml) and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir through tea bag. Set aside to cool. Strain through a fine sieve.
  2. Stir through apple cider vinegar and sweeten with OKUSHAL POMEGRANATE LEMON & LIME. Set aside to chill.
  3. Add chilled liquid to a large jug, or divide between glasses. Add a splash of sparkling grape juice and serve topped with ice, sliced lemon and lime, pomegranate arils, berries and cucumber.

Liquid Liberation

  • 125ml unsweetened red grape juice
  • 2 cups (500ml) water
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) frozen blackberries
  • 1 x 5cm knob ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • 3-5 black peppercorns
  • 2-3 cardamom pods, bruised
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) OKUSHAL POMEGRANATE LIME & LEMON
  • Soda water
  • 1 lime, sliced into wedges
  • 1 lemon, sliced into wedges
  1. Pour grape juice and water into a saucepan. Add blackberries, ginger and spices and simmer for 20 minutes.

  2. Stir through OKUSHAL POMEGRANATE LEMON & LIME and serve warm in heatproof glasses.

  3. For the warmer months, set aside to chill and serve with lots of ice.
